Private Residence Chernivtsi

Set within an urban park on one of many hillsides in Chernivtsi, this single-family home was conceived as a seamless extension of its natural surroundings. From the outset, the project aimed to integrate architecture into the landscape, allowing the house to coexist with nature rather than dominate it. The preservation of all existing trees on the plot became a defining constraint, shaping both the layout and the overall volume of the building. At the same time, the house opens up towards panoramic views of the park, the private plot, and the distant city skyline.

For Andriy Asanov, architect of the residence, the project became a process of careful observation and dialogue with the surroundings. "Rather than imposing a predefined form, the design evolved in response to the existing landscape — its trees, topography, and views. Each decision was guided by the desire to preserve what was already there and to enhance it through architecture. And working with natural light was equally essential, as the house was shaped to follow the rhythm of the sun and create changing atmospheres throughout the day."

The ground level is dominated by an expansive glazed area of up to 20.5m in length and 3.32m in height. At its core is the premium HiFinity sliding system that creates a 10-metre-wide opening with 2.5-metre panels, connecting the living space with the pool terrace in one continuous and fluid spatial experience. The use of oversized glass units (3.2 × 3.0 m) further enhances the architectural scale while maintaining maximum transparency.

A distinctive feature on the second floor is a minimalistic glass corner configuration, also realised with the HiFinity system. Without bulky visible joints interrupting the view, the villa’s sense of openness is reinforced. While HiFinity profiles are known for their slender 35-mm visible width, their Minergie certified thermal properties ensure high energy efficiency (Uw down to 0.8 W/m²K) without compromising transparency.

Reynaers Aluminium supported the building process with system expertise and adaptable solutions, while the fabricators at Vitoris ensured accurate execution on site.

For Vitoris, the challenge of this project lies with the exceptional scale of the elements and the precision required at every stage of their realization. Working with expansive glazing and minimal profiles such as HiFinity’s meant that even the smallest details had a critical impact. Complex elements such as the glass corner, integration within the insulation layer, and the extra-large skylight required tailored technical solutions and bespoke approaches. This attention to detail ensured that the final outcome feels effortless, with engineering complexity remaining almost invisible behind the architecture.
