Villa Khorakhané
Overlooking the island of Lanzarote, Villa Khorakhané emerges from the north-eastern slope of the Volcán de la Arena, perfectly nestled in one of the most evocative and wild landscapes of Fuerteventura. A residential project that combines aesthetics and sustainability, responding with architectural intelligence to the needs of a territory characterised by high temperatures and strong winds.
A dialogue between architecture and the landscape
Villa Khorakhané was born from the desire to create a contemporary residence in total harmony with the landscape of Fuerteventura. The simple, clean lines of the villa interact with the arid morphology, sandy expanses and dark tones of the surrounding volcanoes. At the same time, the layout of the villa and the organisation of the spaces follow the principles of passive architecture, exploiting the orientation of the sun and maximising natural ventilation to ensure year-round living comfort.
From the very first minute, the client emphasised three fundamental aspects: sustainability, integration into the landscape and quality of materials.
The load-bearing structure was built using X-LAM, a cross-laminated solid wood construction element, chosen for its high performance in terms of thermal and acoustic insulation, as well as for the organic aesthetics of the material. The external cladding in natural cork, chosen for its sustainable qualities, durability and high energy efficiency, echoes the warm colours and brown tones of the island's volcanic flows, making the villa almost an extension of the land itself and giving it a unique character.
The fully glazed surfaces emphasise the continuity between indoors and outdoors, enhancing the beauty of the natural environment. The slightly tinted glass panes also help to reduce glare and heat, improving energy efficiency.
Sustainability in every detail
The relationship between architecture and its natural surroundings is also reflected in the choice of windows and doors, which are true design elements. Reynaers Aluminium profiles combine strength and aesthetic elegance, offering durability even in environments exposed to wind, sand and salt. The MasterLine 8 High Insulation, SlimPatio 68 and ConceptPatio 68 systems were chosen for Villa Khorakhané.
All systems are equipped with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), a standardised document registered and verified by independent bodies that provides transparent and comparable information on the environmental impact of products throughout their life cycle, in accordance with ISO 14025.
Furthermore, thanks to careful design choices and high-quality production, the building has obtained A+ energy certification, concrete evidence of the commitment to sustainability and the private home’s excellent performance levels.
MasterLine 8 High Insulation: performance and aesthetics
In particular, MasterLine 8 High Insulation windows contribute to the excellent thermal insulation and air-wind-water tightness values, essential qualities for a building exposed to the extreme weather conditions typical of the island. The low-energy windows align with the villa's passive construction philosophy too.
Furthermore, thanks to its energy-efficient and futureproof design, MasterLine 8 has obtained the renowned Swiss Minergie certificate. It is also a Cradle to Cradle® Bronze certified system, confirming its circular design even more.
SlimPatio 68: light as a design element
The SlimPatio 68 sliding system also proved to be the perfect solution to meet the homeowners’ needs. On the one hand, its ultra-slim, minimalist design maximises natural light incidence and allows for breathtaking panoramic views. On the other hand, its high insulation levels enhance user comfort even more. The vents move aside with little to no effort to offer easy access to the swimming pool area. Thanks to its quality and innovative design, the SlimPatio 68 system has received international recognition, such as an Archiproducts Design Award in 2021.
ConceptPatio 68: elegance, comfort and safety
Finally, the ConceptPatio 68 sliding system combines unique style, standard performance and an improved level of safety. Its relatively minimalistic design allows for maximum natural light incidence, strengthening the dialogue between indoors and outdoors. This solution combines aesthetics and durability, in line with the architectural approach of Villa Khorakhané. In this specific project, two ConceptPatio 68 sliding doors are placed on opposite sides of each other, creating a convenient passageway when opened together – or an airtight corridor when closed.
The perfect colour finishes
The large floor-to-ceiling windows offer continuous visual connections to the volcanic hills, while the minimalist profiles enhance transparency without interfering with the perception of space. The coating finish chosen for the profiles, RAL 8M14, is a matt Sepia Brown hue that blends perfectly with the colour palette of the surrounding environment. The neutral, warm and textured tones are all natural colours that enhance the refined and contemporary look of the villa without altering the purity of the landscape.
The integration of Reynaers Aluminium systems was fundamental to achieve the thermal and acoustic performance requirements, while also maintaining a minimalist and elegant aesthetic. The quality of the materials and the precision of the craftsmanship fully met expectations, and the result is both aesthetically pleasing and highly energy-efficient.

Nature and architecture in perfect balance
One major theme of the project is represented by the terraces and internal gardens, conceived not only as functional spaces, but as true oases of tranquillity. They form a filter between inside and outside, between built matter and wild nature. These spaces, open but protected, connect all the rooms, allowing a continuous relationship with the natural light and external environment.
Villa Khorakhané is a harmonious synthesis of innovation and respect for the environment, an example of how climate and landscape challenges can be met through conscious choices without sacrificing beauty and comfort. An architecture that does not impose its presence but allows itself to be discovered, discreetly integrating with nature and maximising quality of life in a relationship of mutual respect. Reynaers Aluminium systems were leveraged to create a one-of-a-kind, high insulation home that will stand the test of time.
