Adercarta
Some buildings are designed to fulfil a specific function. Others, beyond meeting operational needs, become a symbol of corporate identity. The redevelopment project for the Adercarta headquarters in Adro, near Brescia, Italy, stems from this very vision: transforming an existing production facility into a contemporary building capable of expressing the company's values through light, transparency, and a connection to the landscape.
Adercarta - an industrial building that dialogues with nature
The original building, a prefabricated structure without any distinctive features, perfectly met the functional needs. The design challenge was to infuse this structure with a new architectural language, transforming it into a recognizable and representative element.
The environmental context played a key role: nestled within an industrial area yet surrounded by a park, the building enjoys an unusual setting that the project chose to enhance. The large glass façade opens the interior spaces to the greenery, establishing a continuous dialogue between architecture and nature. At the same time, the access route suggested the creation of a striking double-height portal, which welcomes visitors and powerfully defines the entrance, becoming the project's distinctive feature.
Aluminium systems in perfect harmony
The interior and exterior mutually influence each other. From the inside, the landscape becomes part of the daily experience of the building occupants; from the outside, the transparency of the façades allows for a glimpse of the organization of the spaces and the quality of the workspaces, reinforcing the sense of openness and hospitality.
In this balance, the windows and doors are not simply technical elements but become an integral part of the architectural design. The ConceptWall 50 curtain wall system was chosen for its clean lines and its ability to enhance the large glass surface, contributing to the compositional lightness of the envelope. The MasterLine 8 windows, on the other hand, feature more pronounced profiles, transforming the opening elements into a subtle yet functional design detail that enriches the façade design without compromising its harmony.
The entire project seeks a constant balance between natural materials and technology. The warmth of the interior wood interacts with the aluminium of the windows and doors, expressing innovation, performance, and sustainability. Two seemingly opposing languages that together create welcoming, energy-efficient rooms designed to maintain their high comfort levels over time.
Architecture in service of people's well-being
The overall performance of the building envelope was a key requirement. With a transparent surface area representing approximately half of the entire building, it was essential to adopt systems capable of ensuring high performance in terms of thermal insulation, solar control, and acoustic comfort. The proximity to the factory made it essential to limit noise transmission, creating quiet and comfortable work environments where people's well-being is an integral part of the design.
The result goes beyond aesthetics. The true value of the project lies in the quality of the daily experience: bright, comfortable spaces deeply connected to the natural context. It demonstrates that successful architecture is measured not only by its image, but above all by its ability to improve the way people experience spaces every day.
