Building E, Nowy Rynek

Building E, the latest addition to the Nowy Rynek complex in Poznan, Poland is a modern office building that combines functionality with attractive design. Construction began in 2021, and by April 2023, the building was inaugurated as the new centrepiece to the dynamically developing district. JEMS Architekci studio came up with the building’s daring and sustainable design, which has been awarded a LEED Platinum label.

A dynamic part of the city

The Nowy Rynek development project consists of a total of five buildings surrounded on one side by luscious parks and on the other by the historic Wilda district. Building E specifically is located at the intersection of the main streets near the historic city centre. The new neighbourhood is bustling with life thanks to numerous outlets and shops, multiple business centres, residential buildings, and social meeting hubs close at hand.

The Building E office tower accommodates 28,500 square metres of office space and features an underground car park with 234 parking spaces and 160 bicycle parking spots. With the railway station nearby and city landmarks such as the Old Brewery (Strary Browar) and Fairs Halls at walking distance, Building E is located in the heart of the most dynamically developing part of Poznan.

Quality with character

Building E features 7,000 square metres of glazing, maximizing daylight access for employees and visitors alike. The building envelope stands out for its bent copper-coloured sheet metal, which gives it a unique character. The changing texture and light reflections on the surface of the sheet metal make the building look different at different times of the day, presenting a subtle interplay of light and shadow. The building’s distinctive yet elegant appearance fits into the dynamic landscape of the new central marketplace, which connects all five buildings of Nowy Rynek.

To achieve this remarkable design, the architects used MasterLine 8 windows by Reynaers Aluminium. “MasterLine 8 is our highly insulated joinery system that offers countless design possibilities and excellent thermal performance,” says Beata Kiełczewska, Marketing Specialist at Reynaers Aluminium Central Europe. “Thanks to their superior quality and innovative design, the windows offer increased energy efficiency and unmatched durability, ensuring excellent comfort all year long. Sustainable user comfort

The design of Building E places particular emphasis on energy efficiency, without compromising its environmentally friendly character and user comfort. Not only does the tower generate renewable energy from PV panels, but low-energy components such as Reynaers Aluminium windows help reduce the building’s operational carbon impact even more. Rainwater is also being collected and reused to avoid waste as much as possible.

Thanks to its thorough sustainable efforts, the building complex has been awarded many prestigious certificates, such as LEED Platinum; WELL Core & Shell; WELL Health & Safety Rating; and the Barrier-Free Facility label. All these labels are a testimony to the project’s superior quality, responsible design and care for user comfort. In the end, Building E is an example of a facility that not only offers futureproof office spaces but also contributes to the sustainable development of the city.
