Transport Teamlead
We are looking for a Transport Teamlead who can further professionalise our transport operations. You understand how transport works in practice and want to help build an efficient, reliable and future-oriented transport organisation.
Today, there is already a strong foundation in place. Our ambition is to further refine processes, bring more structure and make the most of improvement opportunities. In this role, you will have the space to not only identify improvements, but also effectively implement them.
In this role, you will report directly to the Group Supply Chain Manager and lead two direct reports: a dispatcher and a transport planner.
Your role
- You take responsibility for the full transport flow, from A to Z, and ensure the team has clear priorities.
- You first gain a thorough understanding of the current way of working together with the team, and then take the lead in driving improvements.
- You coach and support the dispatcher and transport planner in their day-to-day work and help them grow in their roles.
- You clearly map out processes and standardise where needed.
- You optimise transport flows, cut-offs, packaging methods and collaboration with suppliers.
- You ensure that international transport flows run correctly and efficiently, including towards North America.
- You handle issues and complaints in a hands-on way and ensure fast and structural solutions.
- You negotiate transport contracts, calculate quotations and manage relationships with carriers and suppliers, with attention to price, service and clear agreements.
- You analyse transport costs and actively identify optimisation and cost-saving opportunities.
- You look beyond Duffel and translate good practices from the wider group into concrete improvements.
Your profile
- You have experience in transport, dispatching and/or logistics, preferably in an international and export-oriented context.
- Experience with a freight forwarder or in a complex supply chain environment is a strong plus.
- You have experience in leading, coaching or guiding colleagues, or you are ready to take the next step in this area.
- You understand how transport processes work, including flows, cut-offs, documentation and customs, and you can switch quickly when needed.
- You bring structure to an environment where not everything is fixed yet, and you make sure processes also work in practice.
- You are assertive and dare to engage in dialogue with suppliers, even when conversations become challenging.
- You have a hands-on mentality and take ownership when things go wrong.
- You have good insight into figures and know where optimisation and savings may be possible.
- You focus on performance and continuously look for ways to make transport more efficient and cost-effective.
Why this role?
- A role with real impact: you help build a stronger and more structured transport organisation.
- Room to take initiative and realise improvement projects.
- A dynamic environment where you can quickly make a difference.
- After an onboarding period, you will have full ownership of your domain.
Our offer
- A state-of-the-art and international working environment in a company that is a global market leader in its field, where continuous innovation is a shared driving force.
- Plenty of room for initiative, personal growth and technological innovation.
- Flexible working hours.
- A pleasant and dynamic working atmosphere, with a new challenge every day.
- The opportunity to leave your mark on the digital future of an international player in the construction and aluminium industry.
- A competitive salary and a wide range of extra-legal benefits in return for your expertise and commitment.
- A mobility plan that enables you to commute easily, healthily and in an environmentally friendly way.
