Eco Design at Reynaers Aluminium: Creating a Better Future

When our development team starts drawing on the next innovative building solution, sustainability is always on top of their checklist. How does Reynaers Aluminium implement eco design principles in the design phase? And what are some products that have taken sustainability to the next level? Let us show you.

What is eco design?

Eco design brings a lifecycle approach to the design table, aiming to limit a product or service’s environmental impact as much as possible. At Reynaers Aluminium, we believe that 80% of a product’s environmental impact can be limited during the design stage. Topics such as material use, increased thermal performance, modularity, efficient manufacturing, carbon accounting and circularity play a decisive role. Additionally, we see official certification, such as Cradle to Cradle®, as an important indicator of effective eco design.

SlimLine 38: slender and renovation-friendly

SlimLine 38 windows and doors were created with eco design in mind. The steel-look series combines minimal sightlines and excellent thermal performance, making it compatible with both low-energy renovations and new build standards. This light-weight system features 100% low carbon thermal breaks and is known for its minimal use of EPDMs. What is more, the recent SlimLine 38-HI+ variant takes energy efficiency to the next level, reaching passive house insulation levels. All these characteristics make SlimLine 38 a responsible and elegant solution that speaks to the imagination.

SlimWall 35: ultraslim and Passive House certified performance

Thanks to its slim aesthetics and high insulation performance, SlimWall 35 incorporates sustainability in every detail. For instance, its production process has been optimised to avoid waste as much as possible, while the limited number of components helps raise efficiency even more. Slim profiles mean less materials used, which has a direct influence on a system’s environmental impact. Combined with its Passive House-certified performance levels, it has led to SlimWall 35 earning an Archiproducts Sustainability Award in 2024.

Modular façade systems such as ElementFaçade 7 allow for easy prefabrication of building elements at the workshop. No more needs for expensive scaffolding blocking city streets. The units can be swiftly installed from inside the building and are easily removed, replaced or disassembled. As a result, on-site construction time and production waste is limited, and carbon emissions linked to transportation and site activities can be drastically reduced.
