Rohan City
The Rohan City A1 office building is a striking concept by developer SEKYRA GROUP and architectural firm AI – DESIGN, led by renowned architects prof. ing. Eva Jiřičná, CBE and Petr Vágner. As part of the rejuvenation of the Karlín district in Prague, the new social meeting hub is located in a green area of the city and respects the existing urban setting. Reynaers Aluminium contributed to the building’s intriguing design with high-insulation windows, doors, and façade solutions.
The eight-storey building offers more than 10,000 square metres of flexible office spaces, adaptable to tenants’ specific needs. Passing through the main entrance, you are met by a futuristic black-and-white entrance hall, complete with modern lighting fixtures and an organic wall sculpture. The ground floor also hosts various retail opportunities, while the spacious green rooftop terrace looks out over the city and the famous Prague Castle in the distance.
On the outside, wavy perforated metal sheets accentuate Rohan City’s fully glazed modular façade. The silver-coloured panels act both as a decorative feature and solar shading solution. Combined with the reflective detail underneath the eighth-floor cantilevered slab, they form a subtle nod to the undulating Vltava or Moldau River. The orientation of the building ensures optimal daylight entrance from every angle, while the solar shading, glazing and aluminium joinery ensure energy efficiency and limit cooling costs.
The office building's playful and organic look makes Rohan City A1 a unique eye-catcher in the Czech capital city.
High-performance aluminium products
The unique building envelope was made possible by OKM Group, professional fabricator and long-term Reynaers Aluminium partner in the Czech Republic. For the ground and first floor levels, the Reynaers Aluminium Project Team developed a project-specific variant of the ConceptWall 60 High Insulation (HI) solution. Huge glass panes bring in the light, while the profiles’ high-insulation properties keep out noise coming from the nearby roadways.
On the upper floors, the façade is clad with bespoke ConceptWall 86-EF-HI solutions. This modular Element Façade system allowed for fast production and efficient installation, as the elements were put into place on site in record time. MasterLine 8 Hidden Vent solutions are seamlessly integrated to provide additional ventilation on all office floors, without disturbing the consistent look of the façade as seen from the outside. All aluminium profiles feature a neat light-grey finish (RAL 9007) that complements the silver perforated panels perfectly.
High-insulation façade solutions by Reynaers Aluminium ensure an optimal indoor climate, while drastically limiting the office building's energy consumption.
Professional partnership
When designing the individual façade modules, the Reynaers Aluminium team sought to preserve the vision of the architects. “After developing a sample of the modular façade, which was approved by both the investor and the lead architect, the project quickly moved into the production and implementation phase” says Norbert Wolniakowski, Technical Director at Reynaers Central Europe. “Our specialists, together with our trusted partner OKM Group, established the correct manufacturing processes and technological procedures to ensure all building needs were met, from thermal and structural requirements to AWW performance targets. Nothing was left to chance.”
“We are pleased that, thanks to our tailored aluminium solutions, customer-oriented support and professional oversight, we helped our partners bring this project to a successful conclusion. Together for better!”
