The BIM libraries include a vast array of Reynaers’ windows, doors, sliding doors and sliding/folding doors solutions while others will be added in due course. In total over 130 models are available for the following Reynaers systems: ES 50, CS 59, CS 68, CS 77, CS 86-HI, CS 104 and CP 130.
The three building connection types (A – B – C *) are identified according to the positioning of the inside/outside wall opening:
The BIM libraries can be downloaded from extranet, which is accessible via the Reynaers website
(www.reynaers.com) at no cost and comes in the form of Zipfiles that include all available configurations of the systems.
The libraries already provide configurations for:
- Windows: inside or outside opening and single or double
- Windows/doors: inside opening single or double
- Doors with brush strips or T-profiles at the bottom: inside or outside and opening single or double
- Sliding doors: 2 rails and 2 vents.
Reynaers plans to add the following systems to the library on short term as its next priority:
- Fixed windows
- Doors with fixed side and/or upper lights
- CP 130: 2-rail 3 and 4 vents, etc
- CS 38-SL
Autodesk® Revit Compliance
The launch of the Reynaers BIM Libraries is a significant development for its partners and customers across the world. The Reynaers BIM libraries have been designed to run on Autodesk® Revit designer software; one of the most commonly used Building design software programmes in the world today.
BIM is already a well-established practice in the UK and the Netherlands and is showing rapid acceptance in Belgium as well. According to McGraw-Hill Construction’s Smart Market Report on the Business Value of BIM, research conducted in North America indicates that 75% of architects, 67% of engineers and 65% of contractors already believe that BIM is an indispensable tool for their businesses. Considering the international standing of architecture BIM is set to become a best practice globally in the immediate future.
Mr Erik Rasker, Technology Manager at Reynaers, explains that the vast range of materials, the extensive expertise of all partners concerned, increasing regulations, etc. are all drivers for more interaction, collaboration and open processes in the value chain of the building industry. This is the very gap Reynaers has targeted for the launch of its BIM libraries. “We are confident that the user-friendliness of the process and its comprehensive nature will excite users and encourage them to test new frontiers in design and collaboration. It will enable them to develop projects in an open environment that allows each part of the building chain to add its own unique value to the designs and plans and will facilitate full integration of all partners and their work,” says Rasker.
About BIM Libraries
BIM libraries have been designed to provide a methodology and process for the generation and utilization of all relevant information for the design, construction, operation and management of a building throughout its life cycle. This life cycle includes the stages of conceptualisation, design, visualisation, analysis, simulation, documentation, building and operation or management of the building on completion.
The BIM process offers a comprehensive portfolio of solutions for design, visualization, simulation, and collaboration. It includes sophisticated information in the intelligent model to inform better decision-making. The BIM model is populated with all relevant building component information such as product data, maintenance and operation manuals, warranty data, web links, etc.
The collaborative potential lies in the fact that the model offers all participating stakeholders (owners, architects, designers, engineers, builders, fabricators, etc.) visual access to the same data simultaneously by harnessing the converging capabilities of a variety of technological platforms. All these parties will be able to work on the same information and can visually see what each other party contributes in real time. BIM combines design, specifications, construction, installation, bill of quantities and budget all in one in one visible 3D model.
