REYNAERS INNOVATIVE SLIDING SOLUTION FOR CREATIVE FAÇADE DESIGN

Designed by Swiss architecture firm agps, the Hohenbühl project situated in the heart of the city of Zurich attracts the interest of the visitor through the original composition of its exterior and its innovative structure. The façade of the two apartment buildings is differentiated from the surroundings by presenting itself in a festive dress composed of a striking sunscreen curtain. The high degree of transparency of the building has been obtained by using Reynaers’ CP 155 Lift and Slide window and door system.

Unique façade architecture

The exclusive project already numbers among the most avant-garde and creative achievements of Swiss architecture. The architects integrated many practical features into the composition of the façade, giving an overall impression of the unity of form and function.

A double skin façade – made up of glazed sliding windows along with moveable blinds and sunscreens – is complemented inside by sliding wooden elements. This differentiated type of construction offers tenants a great deal of freedom  in maximising the comfort of their living space.

Solar protection dress

In analogy to clothing, the exclusive sunscreen presents itself as a magnificent coat that both protects and represents.

The stainless steel mesh curtain, which can be moved by means of an electro-mechanical motor, makes it appear as if the exterior surfaces were floating.

It looks like a curtain, fine and nimble, taking on a new colour in every different light. This new kind of solar protection system was the result of a well thought out collaboration between the architects and a qualified fabricator.

Focus on the glass and aluminium envelope

Fascinated initially by the new type of solar shading, the visitor who examines the façade more closely will discover several subtle details in the metalwork. The high degree of transparency of the exterior owes its technical as well as its creative success to the optimal use of glass and aluminium.

A key factor in ensuring the excellent functioning of these features has been the use of Reynaers’ CP 155 Lift and Slide window system. This type of window corresponded in form and colour to the wishes of the architects.

The CP 155 range allows the architect to design high and large passage openings offering a great outside view. The system has a maximum vent weight of 300 kg and can be fabricated to a height of more than 3 meters. Sliding doors can be operated easily by remote control, which adds additional comfort and makes the automatic CP 155-LS door the ideal solution in the residential housing sector as well as in commercial buildings. Furthermore, the system offers superior thermal and acoustic insulation, excellent weather resistance and is burglar resistant according to WK 2.
