REYNAERS TAKES SUSTAINABLE BUILDING INNOVATION TO NEW LEVELS WITH A FULL RANGE OF SOLAR SYSTEMS
Duffel, September 2009 --- Reynaers Aluminium, a leading European provider of high-quality,
innovative sustainable aluminium systems, is now launching a new dedicated product range characterised by the integration of photovoltaic panels into a substantial selection of its products. The launch includes balustrades RB10 Solar, sun shading systems BS30 and BS100 Solar, and the photovoltaic roof envelope SR 40.
With their Solar product range, Reynaers offers architects and fabricators multifunctional construction materials that also serve as products, generating electricity through photovoltaic panels. The applications cater for an extensive range of a building’s envelope, from roof covers to wall facing and glazed surfaces. They include sun protection devices like sun shades and architectural additions such as balustrades. Reynaers now provides one of the largest ranges of Solar products in the industry.

The environmental factor
This development underlines Reynaers’
commitment to launch
innovative applications aiming at reducing CO2 emissions. A recent study from McKinsey found that energy used in building and construction can be reduced by up to 45% by 2030. Buildings currently consume 40% of the global energy consumption. The launch of the Solar range strongly supports the general trend of growing international political support for green energy technology; worldwide growth in clean energy production; a rising demand for solar energy and falling solar energy production costs.

Reynaers sees sustainability as consisting of two components: improving the thermal insulation of its products and the integration of PV panels in its product range. They have aptly demonstrated their expertise in this field with the launch of the CW60 Solar in 2008 and now extend this know-how to many other solutions. Overall, the production of solar power has been doubling annually since 2002, making it the world’s fastest-growing energy source. It is pollution-free and hardly requires maintenance.
BS 100 Solar
Having installed one of the largest photovoltaic installations on their warehouse in Duffel- Belgium, Reynaers demonstrated their commitment to the development of sustainable energy and to the Kyoto Accord.
Effective design

The new Solar range is fully compatibility with all Reynaers’ other aluminium products and applications, making it exceptionally versatile and user–friendly for the fabricator and architect. It is easily assembled, both on and off-site, and is mounted and installed with the same simplicity as the other Reynaers products. To add to its diversity, its solutions are also compatible with the PV panels of all reputable suppliers, allowing its customers the freedom to choose their partners from across a wider selection of providers.

The innovative approach of guiding cables through dedicated hidden cable gutters further enhances the aesthetic value of the solution. Although no cables or cable ducts are externally visible, they are still easily accessible from inside the building when this is required for maintenance purposes; at the same time ensuring overall water tightness.
The versatility and flexibility of the Solar range allows users to easily adapt products in the range to meet the specific requirements of architects and investors for bespoke solutions.
Mr Amaury de Cordes, Chief Marketing Officer of Reynaers Aluminium sees a clear future for Reynaers and these new solutions: “This high tech green energy solution offers our customers a sound return on their investments with specific cases promising repayment in 9 to 11 years. The solution not only allows the production of sustainable sources of energy, but it does so whilst offering unlimited variety in architectural design capabilities. They also contribute to the ecological image of any building. All of this can now easily be integrated in any buildings thanks to the new and extensive Solar product assortment.”
The products come in a large variety of shapes, colours and functions, providing affordable, beneficial and highly attractive building design elements.
