This new Optima gear was developed in close cooperation with their accessory supplier and has been designed exclusively for their new generation of window and door systems, offering the users of Reynaers products significant benefits. The approach was to create a flexible accessory concept that can be applied for all window configurations.
Optima is set to change the way in which fabricators manage their business significantly. To realize this, flexibility was an important key driver for this product. Only one basic set of components accommodates all possible configurations due to the perfectly symmetrical accessory groove. This basic gear fits all types of inward opening windows; from turn-tilt to tilt-turn, turn and double casements. Offering even more flexible is the possibility to switch the same gear from turn-tilt to tilt-turn windows with two simple manual adjustments.
Flexibility doesn’t mean more stock and logistic issues. On the contrary, components ha ve been reduced from 50 to 20 items, which also minimizes the risk of mistakes.
But the benefits go much further. High quality and performance is enhanced by the fact that the gear has been designed to carry up to 150 kg vent weight by using much stronger hinges. Its weight-bearing capacity makes it ideal to support larger and heavier glass. This is further strengthened by the high quality double casement solution as the second vent can take multiple closing points, even at the top and bottom of the vent.
An anti-burglary solution, compliant with European anti-burglar standards WKII, is also offered, by adding only a few additional components.
Fabricators will undoubtedly be delighted with the high productivity of the new gear. Mounting of the gear is as simple as sliding the components into the specially designed double accessory groove in the vent: as such all elements easily click into place reducing the mounting time of the gear by at least 20%. This groove is also optimized for the internal locking case, eliminating the time-consuming milling operations. In addition, the Optima is compatible with all standard square pin handles, offering customers more choice in design.
To improve productivity even more the gear comes specially packaged for fabricators to store and assemble the components easily.
The combination of these features enhances the efficiency considerably.
Integration with the Reynaers Windows System
The new Optima gear has been integrated into the Eco System and CS 68, and will soon also accommodate CS 77.

Automation for further productivity
Multiple machines have been developed to further benefit from the advantage of Optima. For instance a special machine has been designed to facilitate automated mounting of the gear on vents for further productivity gains. This machine mounts all accessories on the aluminium vent at high speed reducing the mounting time significantly. Using a fully automated rotating table, the machine slides the different parts into the special groove on the vent. It has been attuned for meeting CE-marking requirements in terms of process control.
The fabricator also has the opportunity to glue the glass to the vent for improved stability and a considerable reduction of production time. It makes the old practice of installing the glass and adjusting the vent on site redundant. No glazing beads are necessary. All of this is achieved with the assistance of a dedicated glass gluing robot.
As a consequence, Optima, together with these newly developed machines, provides an important step toward the full automation of the fabrication process of aluminium systems offering further benefits in terms of work quality and even higher flexibility.
