Security

Aluminium is not only insulating, but also extremely secure. The possibilities of making the glass, window profiles and matching fitting systems both burglar-proof and fire/smokeproof are endless.

Reynaers security systems include fire and smoke protection and are burglar- and bulletproof. In addition these systems absolutely do not limit the options with respect to design and the wide array of available colours. Reynaers closely monitors the latest technical developments in the area of security systems. We draw up test reports for all our systems, which in many cases by far exceed existing standards.

Protection against burglary

Do you have additional requirements with respect to security?

No problem, Reynaers provides you with a choice of five levels of burglary and bullet resistance. Just as an example, we are able to produce our tilt/turn windows with several locks on the window’s various sides. We also have safeguards that ensure that the position of windows can only be changed if they are closed first. And thieves will be left out in the cold…

Locks for extra security

Various options exist for the additional security of aluminium windows and doors. For example in the shape of special security fittings with several locking points and a deadbolt. In addition the hardware is fitted with an anti-drill plate and an anti-lift device. This makes it nearly impossible for thieves to drill the lock or break open the window using a crowbar.

Questions and Answers Secure

In order to determine the degree of protection against burglary, resistance categories were created (in accordance with European norm ENV 1627-1630). This classification is based on perpetrator type, behaviour, area of application, risk and application recommendation. There are six classes of resistance.
In RC 1 building components provide basic protection against burglary attempts using physical violence (kicking, jumping, shoving, pushing up, yanking away, etc.). These building components do not provide a lot of protection against the use of crowbars.
In RC 2 the impulse thief tries to break into the closed and locked building component using simple tools (screwdrivers and pliers).
In RC 3 the perpetrator tries to break into the closed and locked building component using a second tool (crowbar or cordless drill).
In RC 4 we are dealing with a professional thief who carries additional sawing and percussion tools (gouge, chisel, hammer, etc.) in order to break into the building component.
In RC 5 and 6 the burglar uses further tools such as a grinding disc, electric drill and sledge hammer.

Fire and smoke protection

An increasing number of requirements are being imposed on fire resistance today and rightfully so. Therefore at Reynaers Aluminium this problem is crucial in new product development.
From the very start Reynaers has opted to provide its customers with a total solution in the development of fire-resistant windows, doors (CS 68-FP) and façades (CW 50-FP). Fire resistance is more than just the sum of its parts. It has to work in its entirety. In order to make the product as user-friendly as possible, the tests are carried out without reduced fire curve. This is based on the weakest solution that can be found in the potential fire source. Tests are carried out in accordance with the latest European norms whereby fire-retardant thermocouples are applied, which leads to more stringent test results. This allows for as wide a coverage range as possible for Reynaers fire-resistance façade modules.

Bulletproof systems

Bulletproof systems are primarily installed in military or administrative buildings and in banks and post offices, as these security solutions provide even greater protection against outside danger. Extreme conditions call for extreme measures.

Earthquakeproof

In countries in which the earthquake risk is real, building materials must be tested for resistance to earthquakes. Windows and façade systems have successfully undergone such tests.
